Jimi Michel, MPH
Executive Advisor
Jimi Michel, MPH, is a healthcare and technology leader with over 15 years of experience leading digital transformation across health systems, FQHCs, venture-backed digital health startups, and global public health programs. He has worked with AI since 2017 and specializes in translating emerging technology into governance frameworks, operational systems, and sustainable organizational use.
Jimi has led digital transformation initiatives as a senior advisor for UC Davis Health, and at Island Health Care, where he served as Chief Information Officer and HIPAA Security Officer. In his role at Island Health Care, he also co-chaired the AI Subcommittee for the Community Technology Cooperative, providing strategic leadership on AI for FQHCs throughout Massachusetts.
In addition to his work in the United States, Jimi brings extensive international experience, including initiatives with the Government of Bosnia to design a national immunization registry and the Government of India, where he led a team developing an AI/NLP chatbot to disseminate trusted immunization information to citizens throughout Northern India. His work has been supported by the NIH, USAID, HRSA, the Gates Foundation, and the General Electric Foundation.
Jimi has published on digital technology to deliver continuing medical education, technology readiness assessments, and the use of technology for chronic disease management in peer reviewed journals including Oxford Open Digital Health, JMIR Diabetes, and the Public Library of Science. He earned his Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Boston University School of Public Health, where he now teaches the school's flagship graduate course on digital health.
